No need for cutting special offset jaws; our programmable eccentric chuck can handle parts up to 2.56 (65mm) diameter. The chuck is actuated by the CNC turning center precisely setting the amount and orientation of the offset. When used on a twin spindle turning center, we can orientate multiple eccentric journals to each other. Using the Y axis milling capabilities of our Doosan Puma 2000SY, we have been able to precisely time eccentric diameters to gear teeth, slots, oil holes, and flats.
Can we replace a grinding operation with hard turning? The answer is dependent on your requirements, but when allowed, we have been successful in hard turning eccentric diameters after heat treat.
Our live milling turning centers allow us to handle larger eccentrics. We can machine offset jaws at set-up, on the machine they will be used on; allowing to handle parts up to 24” diameter.
Not all eccentric parts are turned. We have milled and externally bored eccentrics on castings.
